A post every day keeps the doctor away.

When I was 13, I wanted a tattoo of a chinese dragon on my back. Luckily, I have somewhat matured since then.

Yesterday, when Taylor got home from being away for 24 hours, he walked in and got on the ground a few feet away from Harper. She got SO excited, smiled constantly, and eventually slowly crawled towards him while he was making proud laughing dad sounds. It was seriously amazing and I might have cried. It’s the little things, okay!

Last night, my friend Betsy (girlfriend of Tommy, band member of Quiet Company) had a cookie baking girl’s night party at her house. Even though I was only going to know one person (Betsy), I decided to go. Face it, who is going to turn down tons of cookies? So, I walk in to her apartment filled with Christmas music and mugs and apple cider and ooooh boy, was it lovely. My night started out delightfully with Betsy letting me mix her drinks.

This is funny because I’ve never drank before so I have no idea what goes together or what amounts. Betsy, lovely host that she was, just told me to go at it and gave me no restrictions. Her first concoction included apple cider, rum, vodka, ground cinnamon, and a few splashes of red bull cola. She said it wasn’t that bad and drank the whole thing. The second treat was cocoa mix, rum, vodka, eggnog, apple cider, and hot water. I think she drank half of it. I should have quit while I was ahead.

After an hour or two of Christmas music and baking cookies and sitting and chatting, I requested that maybe we pump up the jams and switch it to a little motown music. Well, once the music started- I started. I’m pretty positive that I did not stop dancing for 2 1/2 hours. We made up a new game where people yell out words and you have to interpret the words in to your dance moves- “timid pregnant teenager”, “soulfully sexy” and the hardest- “angry panda”. That obviously got things going.

Before the end of the night, I had one girl tell me that she hopes she is as fun as me when she becomes a mom. I thought that was a weird, sweet compliment. Life’s not over when you have a baby. You can still wall dance to 80’s music and sing your heart out to Mariah Carey.

Yes, a lovely evening.
